News Letter for the First Quarter

News Letter for the First Quarter

The election of officers included two first time office holders.  They are Scott Woods who accepted the Deputy Grand Knight duties and George Knezvich who will be our new Advocate.  The installation of officers also included a new Chaplin: Fr. Rick Ginther, we are all excited that Father Rick accepted our request to serve in our Council.

The racing season ended with a costly note because we were not able to sell at the motorcycle race.  This was not our failure!  The track said sales were so bad that they were not going to operate our side of the track for the weekend, therefore we were not needed.  Admittedly there were some sounds of joy for getting the weekend off, but it cost the Council about $750.00 in lost income.  That amount will be hard to earn elsewhere.  If you have an idea on how to replace the $750.00 please share it with an officer.

We are blessed with two new priests in the city Fr. Ed at St Ben and Fr. Mark at St Joe.  They are both Knights in good standing and willing to assist our council.  We will be sure to get them involved in the future.

George Knezvich hosted a nice day at the baseball park in Indy.  There were about 15 knights and several family members who enjoyed the day and each other’s company.  The food was good as well.

As a golfer I attended the State Golf Outing with Ron Fouts and Larry Cox we all had a good time. The golf scores could have been lower, but the fun was at the highest level.  In fact we had such a good time we have arranged to have the next State Golf Outing for the Knight of Columbus program in Terre Haute, July 16 & 17, 2011. We want you to come and play with the state officers!  We plan to have as many of our local knights playing as possible. We will look to other groups to find the needed workers for that weekend.  Please start saving your change today for the $115.00 entry fee for two days of golf and a nice dinner.

On Sunday Sept 26th at 7:00pm Council #541 will cook for the youth of several parishes at a shelter house in Deming Park. You are welcome to come help cook or just taste the results.

Come by if you can!
